Quiz Aloud shows a card, listens while you answer, and cheers the moment you get it right. No typing, no multiple choice, no tapping around. Math, countries, science and more.
Free to start. Addition, Animals and Shapes are free. Want a heads-up at launch? Drop me a line.
It feels like a grown-up holding up flash cards, except this one never runs out of patience.
Tap a tile, choose Easy, Medium or Hard, and the first card pops up. Turn on Speak question aloud and Quiz Aloud reads every card out for little ones who aren’t reading yet.
Talk like you normally would. “Twelve”, “12” and “it’s twelve” all count. The little question mark perks up while you talk, and the words it heard appear right underneath, so nobody wonders if it was paying attention.
Right answers get a big GOOD JOB!, a chime and a happy buzz. Wrong ones get a friendly “Try again”. Stuck? Say I don’t know, skip or pass, or just swipe, and it shows you the answer.

Pick a level each time you start a quiz. Picture packs and times tables keep going until every card is right, and a skipped card comes back around.
A whole multiplication table, 4×4 on Easy up to 12×12 on Hard. About a quarter of it starts filled in. Each blank square lights up in turn with its row and column, and the question appears underneath.
Say the answer and the square fills in. Skip one and it comes back later. The quiz ends when the table is full.
Built so a six-year-old can run it alone, and a grown-up can trust it.
Understands spoken numbers like “forty-two”, and accepts the different ways people say things: “cat”, “kitty” and “kitten” all count.
Turn on Speak question aloud and every card is read out. It keeps listening the whole time and knows to ignore its own voice.
A chime and a happy buzz for every right answer. Not a fan? Sound and haptics each have their own switch.
Every round ends with a scorecard: how many you got, how many were right first time, accuracy and time taken.
Each quiz tile remembers how many you’ve answered and your best streak, so there’s always a record to beat.
Big cards on the iPad for the couch, the iPhone for the road, and the Mac for homework time.

Hands busy with a snack? No problem. Read-aloud cards and spoken answers make long drives go by faster.

Only once. The first time you play, your device downloads Apple’s speech model for your language. After that, quizzes work offline, in the car, on a plane or at the cottage. Purchases need a connection.
The words it heard appear right under the question-mark character. Just say it again. If it still isn’t landing, say “skip” or swipe the card away and it shows the answer.
Not very! Pre-readers can play Shapes and Animals with read-aloud on. School-age kids get the most from the math quizzes and Times Tables, and the Hard levels of Geography, Space and World Landmarks will stump plenty of grown-ups.
Addition, Animals and Shapes are free to play, with no ads. One optional purchase unlocks everything else: the rest of the math, Times Tables and every other quiz pack. Nothing renews.
None at all. No ads, no analytics, no advertising IDs and no third-party code, in the free quizzes or after you unlock everything. Quiz Aloud doesn’t even have servers, so there’s nowhere for your information to go.
No. Every purchase starts with an “Ask a Grown-Up” screen that shows a four-digit code written out in words (“FOUR — SEVEN — ONE — NINE”) to type on a keypad. Three wrong tries and it locks for a little while. Only then does Apple’s payment sheet appear.
No. Audio is turned into words on your device, checked against the answer, and thrown away. Nothing is saved, uploaded or sent to us.
The quizzes are in English for now.
Yes. Quiz Aloud runs on iPhone, iPad and Mac, using your Mac’s built-in or connected microphone.
